The Let’s Raise a Million MLK Lightbulb Retrofit Day 2011!

We are initiating the Let’s Raise a Million service project to coincide with the Martin Luther King Day celebration and community service activities, on Monday, January 17, 2011.

The Let’s Raise a Million Project is a student-led, nonprofit organization focused on introducing energy saving solutions to limited-income households. With the goal of reducing carbon emissions in target communities, college students go door-to-door and replace incandescent bulbs with energy efficient bulbs– compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) at no cost to residents. During the installation, residents also receive information on other ways to reduce energy consumption and bills as well as carbon emissions.

Last year, we retrofitted 89 homes, saving them over $60,000 in energy costs. Our debriefing report from 2010 is located here.

Please visit their website to view more of their AMAZING work. www.letsraiseamillion.org.
